About NTP
The National Transformation Plan (NTP) 2025-2029 is Somalia’s strategic blueprint for achieving inclusive growth, resilience, and sustainable development. Spearheaded by the Federal Government of Somalia, the NTP aims to address the country's most pressing challenges through coordinated efforts across key sectors. This comprehensive plan is designed to enhance governance, stimulate economic growth, develop human capital, and build climate resilience. By leveraging innovative methodologies and engaging a wide array of stakeholders, the NTP seeks to transform Somalia into a prosperous and stable nation.
A significant component of the NTP is the use of Labs. The Labs approach is a controlled environment for experimenting with new ways of working or doing business. It involves a dedicated physical (and/or virtual) space with supporting tools and an iterative process for addressing difficult issues and accelerating solution development. The Labs methodology includes facilitating problem-solving sessions, syndicating with relevant stakeholders, and developing detailed implementation plans with clear milestones, timelines, and action items. The Labs approach is proven to work in similar contexts, having demonstrated tangible results in countries like Malaysia, Oman, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. It ensures a holistic and implementation-focused strategy, promoting a collaborative environment for partnerships and innovation, and enhancing the effectiveness of the NTP initiatives. By using this approach, the NTP aims to unlock private sector investments, create jobs, and drive the socio-economic transformation of Somalia.
