Dato’ Sri Idris Jala
Dato’ Sri Idris Jala is a renowned transformation guru in turning around companies’ performance through his Big Fast Results Methodology© and transformational strategies that are innovative, rigorous and highly applicable in today’s fast-moving environment. He has continuously delivered sustainable socio-economic reforms which, in 2014, saw Bloomberg place Dato’ Sri Idris among the top 10 most influential policy makers in the world. Between 2009 till 2014, Dato’ Sri Idris served as a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in the Cabinet for the Government of Malaysia and was the driving force behind the country’s National Transformation Programme (NTP) – a programme designed to spearhead Malaysia’s transition towards high income status by 2020. Dato’ Sri Idris subsequently served as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2015 till mid-2018, advising on matters related to the NTP. Under his leadership, PEMANDU was named by NESTA UK, a global innovation foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies as one of the top 20 most innovative government agencies in the world. Today, Dato’ Sri Idris works with governments all over the world to deliver their respective transformation targets. In addition, Dato’ Sri Idris is an Expert Resource Speaker at the Harvard Health Leaders’ Ministerial Forum, Keynote Speaker at the London Speaker Bureau and a Visiting Fellow of Practice at the Oxford Blavatnik School of Government. He also served on the Advisory Panel for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on New Economic Growth as well as the Advisory Panel of World Bank. Dato Sri Idris is also the Founder and Executive Chairman of the Global Transformation Forum (GTF). Prior to PEMANDU, Dato’ Sri Idris was the Managing Director/CEO at Malaysia Airlines (MAS) for three years. He was brought on board to turn around the airline which was in crisis brought about by a prolonged bout of losses from operational inefficiencies. Before MAS, he spent 23 years at Shell, rising the ranks to hold senior positions including Vice President of Shell Retail International and Vice President of the Business Development Consultancy, based in UK. This included several successful business turnaround efforts in Malaysia and Sri Lanka. Dato’ Sri Idris holds a Bachelor degree in Development Studies and Management from University Science Malaysia and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations from Warwick University.
